 American do not buy for uk installations, 2006-02-01
This book like a lot sold by amazon are for North america, not to be used in Europe, thier wiring system, installation methods are totally diferent, if you need to buy a DIY book buy either Collins wiring and lighting or the WHICH lighting book by mark Lawerence.
Proably excellent book for america, but their voltage is 120v not 230V in europe, cable colours red black and white, not brown,black and grey.
Finally since january 2004 all work must be checked by an electrician and certified to comply with Part P of the building regulations.
