Where Do I Get Replacement Line Spools?, 2008-08-21 I purchased this product late last year and although I am happy with it my line spools need replacing. I E-mailed the customer help line who gave me the name of a company called Pulse Home Products Limited. I sent off my cheque only to be told they do not sell replacement line spools for this particular model and as they are manufactured in the far east they are unable to obtain further spools in the future. If anyone knows where I can buy replacement spools for this model please post the address on this page.
I did try to put my own line on the existing spool but it keeps breaking and sticking....very frustrating.
Total rubbish - a really bad design!, 2008-09-28 Well I owned mine for 6 weeks before we got the weather to use it.
Within 30 minutes I'd given up with the thing and took it back for a refund.
The reason? Well as another reviewer has said the line spooling system is completely useless.
It seems that it only feeds if you're strimming the thinnest, finest growth of weeds. Anything more than that and - bingo - it's screwed!
The system works (theoretically) on centrifugal force throwing a pawl out to let the line feed just so much before stopping.
However if the line gets snagged or pulled as ALWAYS happens with strimmers, the line slips underneath the rest of the line on the spool and then no amount of stop-start-stop-start will make the line feed.
I've used many strimmer makes over the years and most have worked even though the line feed is always the achilles heel of most low cost strimmers.
However JCB seem to have made the world's worst bar none.
I bought the JCB to complement my Ryobi petrol units for when I didn't feel like humping a red hot 2 stroke around under my arm!
It really was a waste of money and I certainly won't even consider JCB power tools in the future.
Avoid this load of tat like the plague!
jcb grass trimmer, 2007-10-13 after my last B&D strimmer packed in i searched high and low and ordered this one as the last one wasnt powerful enough, this certainly has the power and seems to cut very well the construction is very good, i managed to cut my 100 ft garden down to size after the weeds had taken over. its not very loud, and works well, only gripe i have is the weight its a little on the heavy side i s'pose thats why they supply the shoulder strap which helps.as for the auto line feed in my experiance i have never seen any line feeds work all the time on most makes and always require a little tinkering to ease line out some time.i managed to finish one of the supplied spools but it was a lot of cutting in one day about 3-4 hrs (intermittant otherwise the motor would burn out)will need to order new spools from jcb so dont know how much they are yet.all in all i am happy so far!.
jcb line trimmer, 2006-05-09 first class product we are absolutely delighted, fantastic value for money, well done amazon as always.
Works well, when it works. , 2008-06-07 I suppose you get what you pay for! The spooling system (on mine at least) is utter rubbish. I have to stop every minute to fiddle about and get more line out. It seems to be some kind of design flaw, as the line itself eats into the spool's plastic 'shroud' and refuses to feed out. I've genuinely spend more time trying to get the line to work properly, than I have actually strimming.
When it does work it's powerful and easy to use. I'm going to give it one more chance with a new spool, and if it carries on being rubbish it's going in the tip!
