Nice design but mine broke, 2008-06-17 I had this little gizmo for about a year, until something inside broke and now it grinds something awful when i press the trigger. its still usable, more or less, but the noise definitely suggests somethings not right. the FWD/BACK switch, i agree, is badly placed.
on the PLUS side, i rang the help line (0844 7360109) and apparently all Bosch stuff is under warranty for 2 years. they're coming to collect mine for free, then fix it. wowee.
A really useful tool but no torque control, 2008-09-18 This is a really neat little screwdriver, it has plenty of power and the battery never self-discharges when you don't use it for a while, so it's always ready for use.
There is a small symbol of a petrol pump on the top which lights up red when it needs to be charged and two arrows to show the direction of rotation.
It is very easy to inadvertently press the bar which changes direction when you press the trigger, but you soon learn not to do that! It also has a small light that shines on the head of the screw and is surprisingly useful.
I found that I snapped several of the flat screwdriver blades, they seem very brittle. The unit is quite powerful and there is no torque control; I guess adding torque control would put the price up considerably. The screwdriver bits are standard and are easily replaced.
I hate the tin-box it is supplied in, I would have much preferred a blow-moulded case. It has a bench charger which also houses the bits which is fine for workshop use but no use if you use the screwdriver out and about; as the battery lasts well it isn't necessary to keep it charging constantly.
At the price, recommended.
Brilliant little tool, 2007-10-05 Since buying this for myself, my father and brother in law have also bought on for themselves once they had seen how good this is.
Nice and compact fit in the hand with the comfort to be able to use it for a long time. I rarely use another screw driver now. The charger is excellent and it charges from flat very quickly
As there is a lithium battery in it it has 'no memory' and so can be recharged when it has had any amount of use from just a few screws to a full days use.
Yes, the direction changing button is easy to catch, which is a slight negative, but this is still head and shoulders above any screwdriver, or indeed any tool i've ever used.
Absolutely essential for DIY.
There's always a little flaw isn't there?, 2007-11-20 I bought myself one of these a couple of years ago and it is a very powerful and versatile little beast.
HOWEVER.
Most good bits of kit have a flaw and I have found on occasion that the trigger of this unit has been iffy to say the least in operation.
Squeeze and drill, squeeze and drill, squeeze and screw, squeeze...and squeeze...and squeeze darnit!!!! release, squeeze and it turns slowly....
That trigger switch lets down a screwdriver that otherwise would be a credit to the Bosch name, and that is a very good name indeed.
Poor for Bosch, 2008-01-14 I bought mine a few weeks ago prior to starting a complete kitchen fit. Mine is the new one with detachable angle head. Firstly this is quite useful although fiddley as you need to remove a rubber boot to fit it then replace after. The charge life is fine but the torque is very poor on mine, the locking mechanism sounds as though it is breaking when used to hand tighten and the trigger sometimes sticks on. I also find that an extension bit holder makes access in confined areas much easier, mine should have cost £50 plus but was reduced to just over £30 overall I think it was worth the money but I will be taking mine back due to the trigger I have not decided weather to exchange it or go for a more powerful but less nifty drill driver for just a few £ more. In Summary then Very useful but direction control and lack of power are frustrating in use and I needed to resort to cordless drill to drive most screws home.
