Some pain, big gain!, 2008-12-30
I don't know if it is just me, but after having my second child, I'm sure I was getting hairier faster! I was getting so fed up of shaving my legs every couple of days and getting rashes and burns - it was a vicious circle I was desperate to break!
After reading all of the reviews on Amazon, I bit the bullet, and I am so pleased that I did. My legs are smooth for weeks at a time, with only a little touch up needed - I find my hairs grow in stages, so a quick once over every 10 days or so, and the new hairs are gone.
I have to say that the first time was super painful - I wasn't used to waxing, and all my hairs needed zapping. If I was to make one recommendation, it would be to whizz over your legs over 3 - 4 days at firstie a little at a time. Thereafter, I think the hairs will grow at different stages so you are not ripping out all the hairs in one go as you do the first time.
Also - I do get quite a few red bumps, but these fade after only a couple of hours, even on my sensitive legs. I would just make sure you try this out when you know you aren't going to be baring your legs immediately (and also at a time you won't be wearing tights or anything that might aggravate sore skin for a couple of hours).
As I get used to it, I'm getting much more confident, and even the bikini line is getting a once over every month with the eplilator. In the meantime, the shaver head was very useful and did a great job of getting a close shave. It is great having that option if your pain barrier takes a bit of stretching at first.
This has come down in price A LOT sine I bought it a couple of months ago - so definitely, if you are umming and ahhhing, go for it, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

After reading all your previous reviews (thank you to all of you!), I got this product for Christmas for myself. I used to use hair removal cream until I developed allergic reactions and then switched to shaving. I have never done any epilating/waxing before, so was very apprehensive about using this for the first time. I must say that I am very impressed.
Yes, it does sting but nothing unbearable. I first tried it on my legs and had to do a little bit at a time, because of the stinging sensation. I tried with and without using the wipes that comes with the product. The wipes definitely help reduce the stinging sensation.
Next I tried it on my face, it hurt a bit more than when tweezing. Again nothing too difficult. In fact, I was able to complete using it on my face within 15 mins. I must say it does leave me feeling smooth. There was some redness on my face that went away, once I washed my face with cold water. Following the instructions to stretch the skin definitely makes it a whole lot easier. All I can say is that I am very impressed with this product and am very happy that I bought it.

Wish I had bought this much earlier. It saves so much time and is much more effective than using self-wax strips and then plucking out the hair that's too short. Less of the side effects with allergy and the like as well.

Writing this review for the Men considering an Epilator.
I bought this Epilator to take care of my "Man-Scaping" needs and I have to say it really is a fantastic piece of kit.
The first time you do the pubic area I have to admit it does hurt, but it is bearable pain, and with the special attachment you can go really slow, starting from the edge and work your way in, doing a small area at a time which really helps. (Tip: it is alot less painful if you epilate after exercise and a shower (e.g. after a jog etc) Your skin is hot, pores open and exercise releases endorphins which hide pain).
But honestly the pain is bearable and the results are fantastic much better than shaving.
Epilating on normal hair (e.g. on your back) is not painful at all and feels more like pins and needles.
All I can say to any Man considering an epilator is go for it. The results are worth it.
Great Enjoyment for newbie, 2008-11-25
I am a newbie to epilating. I did some research, and thought that I would try this epilator, and I'm so happy with my choice!
I used the wipes and the beginner cap the first time, for about the first half of my first leg. I got a little frustrated at how long this was taking, so I changed to the cap with the massager either side, and zoom, I was done with minimal pain (well, no more than I was expecting). I didn't even bother using the wipes. I'm a hairy person with fast growing hair (shame) so it's nice to epilate every other weekend, and sometimes I shave just to tidy my legs up, but I've already noticed my hair growing back slower and finer.
I did try doing my arm pits, but this was quite painful. Will stick to shaving them for now, until I'm brave enough to try again. However, the shaving attachment is reasonably good (of course, not as close a shave as a razor, but I expected that from my husbands reviews on electric shavers). It even does a good job on those 'hard to reach' places, if you're into full-body shaving (like those girls from Brazil). Not quite game enough to epilate *there* yet, though I epilate my bikini line and that's fine, and just feels the same if I'd plucked them with tweezers.
I'm so pleased with my purchase, and would recommend this kitset to anybody. It's definitely much less scary than my flatmates £15 epilator!!

For anyone hesitating over whether to buy an epilator, I would say go for it. I have salon waxed for a few years now and always thought an epilator would be more painful than waxing. I decided to take the plunge. I am so pleased with the results! My legs and underarms are now perfectly smooth and it's easy to do at home. The sensation was a bit strange to get used to at first. I did my bikini line with no problem at all as well. Using the epilator is definitely less painful than waxing.
